The NDS EP-3650 root barrier panel is a 36" tall, rigid interlocking panel that redirects tree and shrub roots downward — protecting sidewalks, driveways, slabs, curbs, and utilities from heave and cracking.

With a full 36 inches of depth, the EP-3650 is built for larger, deeper-rooted trees where strong redirection is needed to keep aggressive roots away from infrastructure. Molded vertical ribs drive roots deeper into the soil profile rather than outward toward hardscapes, and the panels lock together into a continuous barrier you can route around any layout — no special tooling required.

These panels are ideal for applications where the barrier must be installed close to the tree, such as sidewalk cutouts and tight planting areas. The molded ridges on each panel direct tree roots downward and deeper into the soil rather than allowing them to spread out shallow near the surface. Beyond protecting nearby hardscapes, this is the real advantage of a ridged panel: by encouraging a deeper root system it reduces the risk of tree tip-over — a common problem when trees are planted in tight areas and develop shallow, unstable roots.
